Superstar Chris Pine (Star Trek’s Captain Kirk) has confirmed the long-standing rumor that he will be playing Steve Trevor in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie alongside Gal Gadot. Steve Trevor is a long standing love interest of the titular character in the comic books. Pine has been long rumored to be in the running for both this role and the title role in the Green Lantern reboot. Ultimately he’s opted for the role in Wonder Woman and appears to be thrilled to join the ever growing DC Extended Universe.
I do not really know what I’m allowed to tell you. I’m super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will perform, and we will shoot in film.
Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious film franchise) will make her debut as Wonder Woman in next year’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, before spinning off into her solo movie in 2017. The movie will be ground breaking for numerous reasons, most notably as it’s the first female-led superhero movie of the modern era. Also as it will be directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) the movie is in safe hands. It was this combination of lead character and lead actress that drew Pine to the movie in the first place.
What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity.
Rumors persist that both Greek god Ares and Ben Affleck’s Batman will also be in the movie, so Pine will certainly have his hands full when he brings Steve Trevor to the big screen.
