The director of films such as The Bourne Identity (2002), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) has signed on to bring Justice League Dark to the big screen. Variety has broken the news that Doug Liman, formerly attached to the X-Men spin off Gambit has taken on the task of directing DC’s dark and otherworldly Justice League.
Scott Rudin is producing and Michael Gilio is writing the script. The film is still in the early stages and plot details are nowhere to be found yet. The Justice League Dark team usually consists of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon. Two of these characters, Constantine (2005) and Swamp Thing (1982) have had their own movies and Constantine had a one year TV series but has also made appearances on CW’s Arrow after the series was canceled.
Justice League Dark will be an ensemble piece as the team implies and it is possible that Liman was brought on due to the success of Go (1999) one of his earlier films which also featured an ensemble cast.
Justice League Dark will also be featured in the upcoming direct to DVD/Blu-Ray DC Animated film of the same name.
Liman is in post production on American Made starring Tom Cruise.
