Last week, we reported that the future of Marvel’s Agent Carter was uncertain. Since that time, there have been a couple of recent developments. On Monday, Marvel TV’s Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb told Business Insider that Marvel was informed by ABC via a phone call that Marvel’s Agent Carter was getting the ax; “there were no conversations” between Marvel and ABC prior to cancellation of the second Marvel series to come to ABC. Loeb again reiterated to Business Insider his hope for a continuation for Agent Carter in some capacity: “…I like to think that anything is possible. And that’s one of the reasons why I enjoy my job so much.” But there is one thing that we now know for certain: Marvel wants more Agent Carter.
In an interview with Jeph Loeb today, TV Line reports that Marvel TV would love to go ahead with a continuation–but there is one major catch: “What Marvel Television does every day is it connects with our partners — ABC, FX, Fox, Netflix, Freeform — and they tell us when they would like it. So the short answer is: Sure, if someone wants to call and say, ‘We want a two-hour Agent Carter for May 2017,’ boom. We’ll put together the greatest Agent Carter movie we can.”
ofWith Marvel, fans, and Hayley Atwell herself on board for more Marvel’s Agent Carter content, it seems more likely now that we will see something come from this–but it is a matter of what network is going to come forward and invest more time and money into the Agent Carter property. Of the networks that Loeb mentioned–“ABC, FX, Fox, Netflix, Freeform”–which one would you like to see continue the story of Agent Peggy Carter and her friends and colleagues?
