Looks as though Marvel’s monsters are here to stay. Marvel has had a long history when it comes to its more monstrous characters, one that goes all the way back to the Golden Age. Recently, some of those characters have made a comeback thanks to Marvel’s newest event, Monsters Unleashed. The event, which only just started this week, involves our favorite Marvel heroes having to deal with a massive attack from the monsters of Marvel and a child who seems to have a connection with them.
Earlier today, it was announced that the Monsters Unleashed story does not end with the event. It will continue this April in a new ongoing also called Monsters Unleashed. The series will be written by Cullen Bunn (Uncanny X-Men, Deadpool & the Mercs for Money) as well. David Baldeon (Web Warriors, Marvel Tsum Tsum) will be taking over for the art. The series will star Marvel’s newest hero, Kei Kawade a.k.a. Kid Kaijiu, and all his monstrous friends. The series will also see him team up with the one and only Elsa Bloodstone. When talking about lead character and his potential Bunn had this to say:
“His powers are unlike anyone else’s. If you really think about it, he’s insanely powerful, with the potential to be a world-changer, but he’s just a kid. It’s going to be a lot of fun to see where his powers take him and how they grow over time.”
I don’t know about you, true believers, but I am excited about all this. Personally, I love it when Marvel introduces new, original characters. Plus, Kei’s powers are so different. What do you think? Will you be picking up issue one? What other characters would you like to see teaming up with Kid Kaijiu? Let us know in the comments below.
