Second Recommendation: X-23: Target X
X-23: Target X is the sequel to X-23 Innocence Lost. Target X was a six issue mini series published in 2007, once again written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle. Innocence Lost ended with Laura as a thirteen year old girl leaving her mother in the snow. Target X begins with Laura as a fifteen year old girl being interrogated by Captain America and Matt Murdock. Laura reminisces about what her life has been like since she left her holding facility.
Laura left the holding facility to run to the only other people she knew, her cousin and aunt. She had once visited them when X-23 helped her cousin Meagan from getting kidnapped a few years prior. Laura tries to live a normal life with Meagan and her aunt, she even enrolls into Meagan’s high school, but Laura’s normal life didn’t last very long as the facility targets Laura’s new family.
Laura parts ways with her family to protect them, and now is on the hunt to find her “father”, Wolverine. The encounter is very similar to the one she has in X-Men Evolution. The series ends where the story started, with the capture of X-23.
