Doctor Strange Team is Getting an Overhaul

The Doctor Strange team is getting an overhaul, and announced through tweets earlier today. CBR was on top of this earlier today with some information about how the switch will go down. As it currently stands, writer Jason Aaron and artist Chris Bachalo will leave Doctor Strange following issue #20. Writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Niko Henrichon pick up after they leave and will lead the series through the upcoming Secret Empire event.

CBR provided the complete history of Aaron and Bachalo in addition to other works in which they have featured.

Aaron and Bachalo have worked together on “Doctor Strange” since October 2015. Aaron will continue his work on “Star Wars” and “The Mighty Thor.” “Doctor Strange” #20 looks to combine some of the Sorcerer Supreme’s most beloved allies with his hated enemies, including Dormammu, Mordo, Mr. Misery, the Empirikul and Wong. Hopeless is known for his work on “All-New X-Men,” “Spider-Woman” and “Jean Gray,” while Henrichon was the artist behind “Pride of Baghdad” and “New Mutants.”

Dennis Hopeless took to Twitter today to support Jason Aaron in his future endeavors and received mutual support from Aaron in response.

As with most things in life and business, the what and the why of the switch remains to be fleshed out. Fans can just take solace in the fact that Doctor Strange is still without magic and that Hopeless and Henrichon will have plenty to do and say about it.

The new and different Doctor Strange has been an interesting ride. Sans magic, our Sorcerer Supreme is about as effective with magic as a Dada Supreme, though we have seen a more determined side to Strange, it remains curious if he will ever wield the kind of power he once did in the old continuity. That said, it’s not the worst thing in the world for Doctor Strange to find new ways to overcome his challenges, ways that do not involve incantations and charms. Doctor Hank Lawson of Royal Pains would be pleased with the ingenuity shown by Strange in his current run.
