Agents of SHIELD And Inhumans Gets New Timeslot Shake-Up

Get ready to set your DVRs true believers. Marvel’s The Inhumans and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD have at last announced their time slots.  According to our friends at Heroic Hollywood both will be airing on Fridays with Once Upon a Time (is it too early to coin the term “Fandom Fridays” ABC?)  It’s a smart move with DCTV having shows the rest of the week.  Fridays means that ABC can create a home for Marvel Television and having it premiere with Once gives fans a chance to dominate Friday Television.

Remember, Marvel’s The Inhumans premieres September 1rst in IMAX with the rest of the episodes premiering September 29th – if the new time slot is to be believed.  The first two episodes of Inhumans are going to run for 2 weeks in IMAX, which will most likely run concurrently on ABC.

So The Inhumans will premiere September 1rst in IMAX and on ABC with the rest of the episodes starting the 29th.  While that leaves 3 blank 9pm spots in the schedule we’re confident they’ll fill them with something before the royal family makes it’s television debut.  Fandom Fridays will pick up in late November with Agents of SHIELD which will run for a full 22 episodes according to the ABC upfronts.

Entertainment Weekly  spoke to the ABC president on the move to Fridays and the new timeslots creating a fan friday, or a “fantastical” friday if ABC is to be believed.

“We’ve turned Friday into more of a destination for our fantasy and science fiction fans,Once Upon a Time and S.H.I.E.L.D. are airing on the same night for the first time, which is giving many fans of both shows what they’ve been asking for for a long time.”

Channing Dungey added that, “This is something fans have been asking for for a long time.”

“When we were looking at the schedule, it’s interesting how much pressure we’ve had from fans to put those shows closer together on the schedule for quite some time, We like the idea of Fridays being a destination. Once Upon a Time has done a wonderful job on Sundays of keeping the lights on against football, but we’re looking to see how it will perform when it’s away from football for awhile.
