The comic genre on all mediums continues to grow with an announcement from FOX today about the long-awaited X-Men series, per Heroic Hollywood. Burn Notice showrunner Matt Nix has been given the go-ahead for the X-Men series, The Gifted. FOX officially picked up the property for a season run beginning in the 2017-2018 TV season. The announcement of the show also brought out confirmation that it will, in fact, be titled The Gifted, which had been, up to this point, confirmed as nothing more than a working title. That changes today with the teaser trailer released on social media and a synopsis on the show.
In addition to Nix, former X-Men film director Bryan Singer will also be involved with the project as an executive producer, but did direct the pilot.
“THE GIFTED focuses on a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”
