The Marvel Report’s Guide To San Diego Comic Con

Marvel Television has been a staple at the San Diego Comic Con since the release of their flagship television show Agents of SHIELD.  While Marvel’s favorite agents won’t be making the trek to SDCC, star Clark Gregg tweeted that they’re very grateful for the fan’s support of the show and that they’d be hard at work filming season 5.  Meanwhile Marvel TV fans have plenty to look forward to with The Defenders, Marvel’s The Inhumans, Legion, and The Gifted.
Most recently The Gifted made headlines with the announcement that they’d be taking over the traditional trolley wrap-arounds.  Formerly the domain of Agents of SHIELD (they introduced us to Ghost Rider last year), these trolleys now introduce us to the Department of Sentinel Services as illustrated in The Gifted promotional material.   Denoting “Mutant” transport, X-Men fans who have hoped to hear “Mutant” on the small screen can start getting excited.
In addition to the trolley wraps, both The Gifted and Legion will be hosting panels and Legion will be hosting an immersive virtual reality experience.  The Defenders will be heading to Comic Con as well, marking the first Hall H Marvel Netflix panel (MarvelFlix?).
Many of the Marvel Television panels overlap with some of the “film” panels (don’t forget, it is all connected) but here’s what we’ve got that’s connected to the Marvel Universe’s smaller screen. We tried to find as many people who have been connected with Marvel Television as possible as well as current Marvel TV projects, so you can catch up on all your favorite stars.  You never know just who might show up or what interesting stories anyone might tell! Check out the panels below:

Hollyweird Science: Information Vs Motivation

7:30 PM-8:30 PM

Room 26AB

When a new science fiction film comes out, so do the science experts (with vastly different levels of expertise) to nitpick the film’s science content. The irony is that Hollywood has never been more willing to work with actual scientists to ensure scientific accuracy. Yet, scientists often cite TV series like Star Trek and films like 2001: A Space Odyssey as the elements that inspired their careers. When it comes to the value to science and science education, is the motivational/inspirational component at least as important as the science content itself? This panel of scientists and Hollywood professionals share their thoughts. Featuring Bear McCreary(Battlestar Galactica, AMC’s The Walking Dead), Amy Berg (Counterpart, Eureka), Kevin Grazier, Ph.D. (Gravity, Pirates of the Caribbean: DMTNT), Jessica Cail, Ph.D. (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D ., Zootopia), Rick Loverd (Science and Entertainment Exchange), and Colin Campbell (The Universe, Life After People).
