While we still have a couple of months to wait till the new Black Lightning live-action series debuts on The CW, new and old fans of the character will soon be able to enjoy a new comic run by Tony Isabella, co-creator of Jefferson Pierce! DC Comics announced today that Isabella and artist Clayton Henry, will be coming out with a new miniseries titled Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands which will be released on November 1.
-While this version of Jefferson is still a teacher who aims to be a role model to his students, he will be portrayed as a lot younger as opposed to the past versions. But the biggest change with this incarnation is that not only isn’t he married, but he doesn’t have any daughters, meaning that we shouldn’t expect to see Anissa (Thunder) and Jennifer (Lightning) in Cold Dead Hands.
-Tobias Whale is getting a major makeover, as he will no longer be a big heavyset man and he won’t be an albino either like previous incarnations. Instead, this new version of Whale is fit and built like an athlete, but he’ll still remain the ruthless and powerful boss that he has always been.
-The events of Cold Dead Hands will be set in the city of Cleveland.
DC describes this new title as a fitting introduction to Jefferson Pierce and his world. We also got the full solicit below along with a couple of preview panels from the first issue.
