James Gunn Seemingly Hints At Plans For Nova In The MCU’s Future

Ever since fans first learned the Nova Corp would appear in 2014’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, many have wondered if that also meant we would see fan-favorite Richard Rider aka Nova. Well, based on director James Gunn’s answer in a Facebook Live Q&A earlier today, it sounds like there’s a very good chance we might see the character make his live-action debut in the near future. When asked by a Facebook user if there was any chance of seeing Rider appear somewhere down the line, Gunn had a response that might give fans of the character some hope.

“Yes, definitely. Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use. One of the things I’m doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it will take place after the next two Avengers movies, and it will help to set up the next 10-20 years of Marvel movies. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

While this isn’t a definite answer, it definitely does seem to hint that there have been discussion about the character being included in the cosmic future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And plans for the “next 10-20 years”? Well, that bit alone is some exciting stuff. Are you excited about the possibility of seeing Richard Rider join the MCU?
