Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is in its home stretch, set to release on PC and consoles in four weeks. Today, Capcom released the game’s full story trailer, while also confirming the final character count and available game modes at launch. The trailer opens with Jedah from Darkstalkers preparing to lead an insurgency on Ultron Sigma’s merged universe, joining with some of the most demonic forces acros both Marvel and Capcom worlds to create a Symbiote hellbeast.
The trailer segues to Dr. Light urging the worlds’ heroes to destroy Ultra Sigma. Captain America then comes to the realization that they need Thanos’ help, which causes a rift between the good guys. Other highlights from the trailer include Spider-Man donning his black costume, Resident Evil’s Nemesis T-Type confronting the heroes, and Thanos going toe-to-toe with Jedah.
The final character count stands at 30, with Capcom confirming via press release that Dark Dimension ruler Dormammu and the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider will join the roster on the Marvel side. Darkstalkers’ Jedah was also formally confirmed, following last month’s exhibition at Evo 2017, as was Ghosts ‘n Goblins’ Firebrand. Aside from Jedah, all of today’s announced characters make their return from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Capcom also confirmed MvC:I’s game modes. This includes Story, Arcade, Versus (for both player and CPU), Mission, and Training modes for offline play. Online players will have Ranked and Casual matches, as well as a Beginners League for players under Rank 14 and a Lobby for up to eight friends to play among themselves. Players can also check out Rankings from around the world, as well as replays.
First gameplay footage of Dormammu, Ghost Rider, and Firebrand is expected to come out of Gamescom, which kicks off next week from Cologne, Germany.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite arrives on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on September 19.
