2. BANYAN
A former Bollywood film star, Banyan was born Aja Roy and transformed thanks to the traveling terrigen mist. After emerging from his cocoon he became a massive tree being who resembled an earthbound version of Groot. Fleeing the movie premiere where he was transformed, Roy returned to the ghettos of India where he had spent his childhood. After getting support from the locals, he eventually focused his abilities to turn himself into a crime boss – earning enough money to ransom Mumbai back to the rest of India.
Banyan would be an ideal antagonist for a second season, or perhaps a mention later in the season. Marvel’s Cinematic Universe doesn’t have a lot of mentions of the film industry and adding Banyan and exploring his struggles would be great. Making him a colleague or a compatriot of Nathan Fillion’s Simon Williams would add new dimension and depth to the film industry in the Cinematic Universe.
IDEAL CASTING: Sendhil Ramamurthy has played a superhero before and also had a turn at playing a super villain on Heroes. He’s also played a “grim” character before in Beauty and the Beast, giving his bad guy character a dark outlook, making him both tragic and evil. While Banyan might involve some motion capture (or at least a lot of makeup) this actor has proven he’s up to tackle any challenge.
