The cast of Sony’s upcoming Venom movie is possibly being joined by a Veep star! Variety reports that Reid Scott is in negotiations to join the upcoming Marvel-Sony film starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.
Just like the previous casting reports, no details were given on who Scott would play, should he join this film. Jenny Slate was the recent actor to be in talks to join the film and from that report, it was mentioned that the studio was still looking for someone to play Cletus Kasady a.k.a. Carnage.
Could Scott perhaps be the man who is going to bring the psychotic symbiote to life in Venom? Only time will tell, but according to Variety, Slate is now on board, joining Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed. Williams is supposedly playing a district attorney as well as the love interest to Hardy’s Eddie.
Ahmed’s character is also a mystery, but in the initial reports, it was said that he would play a “popular Marvel Comics character” that isn’t Carnage. Slate’s mystery character a scientist “who works at the company owned by said villain (who may or may not be Carnage)”.
Production is reportedly said to start sometime this fall in New York. Venom is the first installment of Sony’s new Marvel Universe that won’t be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man exists. Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Silver & Black, featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat, will be the second installment of that universe.
Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
