While many believed that The Skrulls would make their live-action debut in the upcoming Captain Marvel, a new rumor hints that 20th Century Fox might be beating Marvel Studios to the punch. While this is definitely falling into the rumor category, the fan site Universo X-Men is reporting that the Simon Kinberg directed X-Men: Dark Phoenix will feature the shape-shifting alien race. According to the sites sources the film will feature a scene at the United Nations building including an alien attack. You might assume this was the Shi’ar due to source material but apparently the actors spotted on set were wearing motion-capture suits and identified as Skrulls according to the website.
While this is just a rumor for the time being, the site has gotten stories right in the past before. It’s also worth noting that much like Quicksilver and The Scarlet With, this is reportedly another one of those shared rights situations. Just recently actress Jessica Chastain recently stated that she wasn’t actually Shi’ar empress Lilandra. So, could she be the Skrull Queen? Well, with the production recently wrapping it shouldn’t be too long until we get a trailer for the film to find out for ourselves. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Set in the 1990s, a decade after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the film adapts “The Dark Phoenix Saga” comic storyline, seeing Jean Grey lose control of her abilities as the Dark Phoenix, forcing the X-Men to fight her while the alien empress Lilandra seeks to capture and destroy her.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2, 2018.
