Constantine is returning in animated form this fall as a combined project from WB Animated and Blue Ribbon Content. It will air on CW Seed, and Constantine will be voiced by live-action star Matt Ryan who played the role in the NBC series.
The series is expected to premiere in early 2018 according to the studio. A special sneak trailer of the series premiered today at New York Comic Con. Catch the new footage below and let us know what you thought of it in the comments below.
The official description reads:
“This all-new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and Blue Ribbon Content follows DC’s popular comic book character John Constantine (voiced by the live action series star Matt Ryan), a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight. With his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.”
Ryan has previously appeared in the Arrowverse as he did a guest-spot on Arrow in the fourth season. Constantine helped Team Arrow in restoring Sara Lance’s soul after being initially resurrected through the Lazarus Pit. This marks as the second DC animated series on CW Seed, following Vixen. A third one will debut sometime this fall with Freedom Fighters: The Ray which will play a large role in this year’s DC crossover.
