Today Marvel released the trailer for Wolverine: The Long Night, an upcoming scripted podcast written by Benjamin Percy and directed by Brendan Baker.
Marking Marvel’s first foray into the scripted podcast genre, Wolverine: The Long Night will consist of 10 episodes released weekly on Stitcher Premium. The first episode premieres March 12, 2018.
You can listen to the trailer below:
While Stitcher Premium subscribers will get to hear this brand-new story first, Marvel plans to distribute the podcast on additional podcast platforms in Fall 2018.
Actor Richard Armitage, best known for his role in The Hobbit movie franchise, will voice Logan aka Wolverine in the new series. Marvel movie fans may remember Armitage previously appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Heinz Kruger.
It’s no secret the podcasting medium has seen breakout hits with scripted mystery shows like Homecoming and true crime documentaries like Serial. It only seems natural that Marvel would take an already serialized format like comics and bring it to the podcast medium to tell new and exciting stories.
You can read the official synopsis of the show below:
[Wolverine: The Long Night] follows agents Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall (Ato Essandoh) as they arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders and quickly discover the town lives in fear of a serial killer. The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage). Their search leads them on a fox hunt through the mysterious and corrupt town.
Additional cast members include Scott Adsit, Bob Balaban, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Zoe Chao, Chaske Spencer, Jordan Bridges, David Call, Michael J. Burg, and Lannon Killea with a cameo from comedian Chris Gethard.
