Titans is bringing Doom Patrol to the upcoming streaming series and now one of its core members have been cast! EW revealed today that Drop Dead Diva aum April Bowlby has been tapped for the role of Rita Ferr a.k.a. Elasti-Girl!
“An actress on the rise, Rita Farr was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure — which, in the comics, allows her to expand or shrink her body at will. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among The Doom Patrol.”
She will first make her debut in episode 5 of the series, fittingly titled “The Doom Patrol.” This confirms our speculations along with That Hashtag Show’s exclusive report last fall that the show was indeed casting Elasti-Girl.
It was revealed last week that Bruno Bichir had been cast as The Chief, leader of the Doom Patrol. EW mentioned that Bowlby is potentially set to recur later in the season.
“From executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, TITANS is an all-new live-action drama series that follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. TITANS is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.”
Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan K. Potter, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, and Lindsey Gort as Dick Grayson a.k.a. Nightwing, Princess Koriand’r a.k.a. Starfire, Rachel Roth a.k.a. Raven, Garfield Logan a.k.a. Beast Boy, Hank Hall a.k.a. Hawk, Dawn Granger a.k.a. Dove and Detective Amy Rohrbach respectively. The series is set to debut in 2018 on DC’s currently-untitled streaming service.
