At Geoff Johns’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, he announced he will be writing and executive producing a Stargirl show on DC Universe. Set for 13 episodes, with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter executive producing, it will follow Courtney Whitmore, a character Johns created who is based on his sister who died on the explosion of TWA Flight 800 back in 1996.
The series will also feature the Justice Society of America as Courtney attempts to lead her own team who are now facing baddies from the past.
“Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series.”
This follows the recent DC TV news that CW is developing a Batwoman series as she will be introduced in this year’s Arrowverse crossover that will air in December. Sound off in the comments below if you are excited about the Stargirl series!
