Rob Liefeld Comic to Introduce New X-Men Character

This week Entertainment Weekly revealed that Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld will introduce a new X-Men character this April with a six-issue limited series, Major X.

Liefeld told Entertainment Weekly the following about titular character Major X:

“He hails from another existence, which is called the ‘X-istence’ — a mutant Shangri-La, a safe haven that has been a realm where mutantkind has lived in peace and harmony. They escaped there following a tragedy that befell mutantkind, and built this community.”

Liefeld also teased there are some familiar faces living in the X-istence.

Liefeld will write and illustrate the #1 with other artists including Brent Peebles and Wilce Portacio joining throughout the miniseries.

Major X leaves his universe after a new threat arrives and he seeks out the help of the X-Men. However, something goes wrong and instead of landing in present-day he will arrive in 1991 in the first issue, placing him right after the first appearance of Deadpool.

The X-Men have seen a lot of shake ups the past few months, but this could be one of the biggest yet.

In addition to creating Deadpool, Liefeld is well known for his contributions to Marvel including Cable, Domino, and X-Force.

Major X #1 hits comic book shops in April 2019.
