The Batwoman series is growing its cast as production on the pilot is approaching and we now know one of the supporting players on the show! Dougray Scott has officially been cast in the role of Jacob Kane, better known as the father of Kate as well as one of Batwoman’s closest allies in the comics. The show describes their take on Jacob as follows by Warner Bros. TV and The CW:
“Jacob Kane, a former military colonel with a chip on his shoulder for Batman, Jacob Kane now commands Gotham’s private security firm The Crows, and has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could. But it’s only a matter of time before his unwavering disdain for vigilantes puts him at odds with Gotham’s new caped crusader…who also happens to be his own daughter.”
In addition to this news, David Nutter, who had previously been announced to direct the pilot, will be stepping down due to personal reasons, per Deadline. Instead, Marcus Siega, (God Friended Me), will officially direct the pilot and board the project as an executive producer.
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Based on the characters from DC.”
