Marvel Comics brought back its annual “Next Big Thing” panel to New York Comic Con 2019 and there was no shortage of announcements.
Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski was joined by Donny Cates (Absolute Carnage, Guardians of the Galaxy), Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk, Marvel Comics #1000), and Dan Slott (Fantastic Four, Tony Stark: Iron Man) to tell fans about Marvels exciting upcoming titles.
The biggest announcement to come out of the panel was the reveal that Donny Cates would be taking over the Thor title from Jason Aaron starting with a new Thor #1. Joining him on art is Nic Klein and colorist Matthew Wilson.
Replacing Donny Cates on Guardians of the Galaxy will be writer Al Ewing with artist Juann Cabal.
Dan Slott and artist Christos Gage will launch Iron Man 2020, where Arno Stark takes on the Iron Man suit. Dan Slott promises it’s going to be weird and feature a robot revolution.
Fans of the Earth X will be excited to learn about the upcoming Marvels X, a six-issue miniseries from Alex Ross.
And that’s just a few of the titles discussed during the panel. Venom Island will feature a post- Absolute Carnage Eddie trying to heal while upcoming issues of Immortal Hulk will feature a post-humanity future with only the Hulk left.
There are plenty of things for Marvel comics readers to get excited about in the coming months.
