What’s the Deal With Sharon Carter/ Is She a Skrull?
Oh, Sharon Carter. We wanted so much better for you. After dropping several not-so-subtle hints during the season, it’s revealed on the finale that Sharon is in fact the Power Broker. She even murders Karli and Batroc in order to keep her identity secret.
Since no one left alive knows her secret, she still gets the pardon from the U.S. government Sam promised as shown in a post-credits scene. Sharon immediately calls up one of her associates and talks about her plans to sell government secrets now that she’s reinstated.
But now what? While making Sharon a villain still feels wrong, hopefully, Marvel has some more plans in store for the Power Broker to make this heel turn worthwhile.
One theory currently circulating among the fandom is that it’s not Sharon at all, but a Skrull that has taken her place. If true, and that’s a big “if,” it would give her an important role in the upcoming Secret Invasion series since the Skrulls would have access to the government.
Have We Seen the Last of Zemo?
At the end of the finale, Baron Zemo manages to blow up the remaining Super Soldiers from the comfort of his prison cell on the Raft thanks to some help from his butler. Clearly not even being imprisoned on the Raft can stop Zemo.
Maybe he only cares about ending the Super Soldier program and will retire from villainy now…but we doubt it. It’s hard to believe this is the last we’ve seen of the character.
Thanks to Daniel Brühl’s charismatic and slightly unhinged portrayal of the Sokovian sociopath, Zemo became a fan favorite during The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. His dancing even drove fans to lobby for the release of the “Zemo Cut” to show the full extended scene.
Do us a favor Marvel and find a way to bring him back.
Who Is Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine AKA Madame Hydra Working For?
We know John Walker/ US Agent is now working for Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine. But who is she working for? The character, portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, has a complicated history in the comics.
Also sometimes known as Madame Hydra, Val has been both a SHIELD agent and a villain in the comics. Based on her interest in Walker, it’s safe to say that she is not working for SHIELD at this time and is up to something much more sinister.
Interestingly, the character also played a role in the Secret Invasion comics storyline, which Marvel is adapting into a miniseries. Could she also be a Skrull?
Complicating matters even more is the report from Vanity Fair that the character was supposed to make her first appearance in the Black Widow film. That film was of course originally supposed to come out before The Falcon and The Winter Soldier before the COVID-19 pandemic forced Marvel to change release dates.
Val might be the biggest question mark left on the board, but we can’t wait to see what else the talented Julia Louis-Dreyfus does with the role.
