The cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is growing with the announcement that Daniel Diemer is joining the cast in the role of Tyson for Season 2. The news was announced via video message from author and producer Rick Riordan during the show’s Hall H Panel at San Diego Comic Con.
In the books, Tyson is a mythical Cyclops and the son of god Poseidon, making him the half-brother of Percy Jackson. His character plays a significant role in the second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters.
Diemer is a Canadian actor whose notable credits include Under the Bridge, The Midnight Club, and The Half of It. Diemer is the first new casting announcement for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.
The second season will adapt The Sea of Monsters, which finds Percy and Annabeth on a quest to find the famed Golden Fleece to save Camp Half-Blood while also searching for their missing friend Grover. Percy also has to cope with the arrival of his new half-brother after spending years as an only child.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is currently in production and a premiere date has not yet been announced.

Other cast members for Season 1 included Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hermes”), Toby Stephens (“Poseidon”), Virginia Kull (“Sally Jackson”), Jason Mantzoukas (“Dionysus” aka “Mr. D”), and Jay Duplass (“Hades”) among others.
