In early December 2025, it was reported that Scarlett Johansson would be joining the cast of The Batman – Part II. There were many theories as to who she was playing, but now it is looking like she will be playing Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife. Which obviously led many to believe that Harvey Dent would also be in the film.
Today it has been reported that another MCU alum is close to signing on for The Batman – Part II, as Sebastian Stan is in talks to join Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel. There has been no official confirmation who he will be playing, but many insiders believe he will be playing Gotham’s District Attorney Harvey Dent.
While Harvey Dent being in another Batman project is not necessarily shocking, it is the inclusion of Gilda that will lead many comic book readers to draw connections to The Long Halloween as inspiration for The Batman – Part II. The Long Halloween’s story follows Batman discovering the identity of the mysterious Holiday serial killer.
Matt Reeves has said that his 2027 sequel will be another mystery, but a safe assumption is that it will not be a direct adaptation of the graphic novel similar to the way that The Batman was not a direct adaptation of any specific graphic novel.
The second film in The Epic Crime Saga begins filming sometime this year, so the possibility of more news it very much possible. So until then there will be more and more speculation.
