Welcome to “Pages & Panels: The Best of Marvel Comics.” As the name suggests this column will feature a look at the best pages and panels of the week, as chosen by The Marvel Report staff. The selections, just like Marvel Comics as a whole, will run the gamut from heartfelt, to funny, and everything between. Not only will the biggest, and most important moments of the week be highlighted, but quieter moments as well.
To make matters even more interesting you the readers will have a say in what gets crowned as Panel of The Week. Make sure to vote for your favorite in the poll.
The winner of last week’s poll, and first entry into the Panel of The Month race was “Awesome Facial Hair Bros.” from Invincible Iron Man #3 by Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez with 61.9% of the vote.

ALL NEW ALL DIFFERENT AVENGERS #1

Why: Whether it’s Nick Fury in the comics, or Phil Coulson in the MCU, a flying car is nothing we haven’t seen before. A flying car that just happens to double as an Iron Man suit? That’s a new one, and is extremely awesome. Oh and is it a car doubling as an Iron Man suit or an Iron Man suit doubling as a car? – John

Why: I have really grown to like Angel and Laura’s relationship. Laura has always been a loner and it’s great to see her opening up to somebody. – Kathryn
SECRET WARS #7

Why: Jonathan Hickman’s legendary run at Marvel Comics is inching closer to an explosive ending. The 7th issue of Secret Wars gathered the troops for a huge battle, but still found time for some great character work. Hickman’s take on the Namor/Black Panther relationship has been one of comic’s great pieces of long term character work.
SPIDER-MAN 2099 #3

Why: Miguel was hiding on the enemy’s back. Very unique way to use Spidey’s sticking powers. – Kathryn
THE ULTIMATES #1

Why: Al Ewing continues to put his stamp on All New All Different Marvel with a first issue of The Ultimates that looks to appease fans of Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers run with large scale stories. The real star of the issue was artist Kenneth Rocafort, whose style is perfect for this type of series. Take this shot of a Binary powered Captain Marvel. This alone should be enough to get the #CarolCorps, and Marvel fans in general on board. Like Blue Marvel, color this reader impressed – John
Why: America Chavez is back in our lives on a monthly basis, and this is a very very VERY good thing. If you haven’t read anything with Ms. America in it before prepare to meet your new favorite character – John
WEB WARRIORS #1

Why: This whole first scene was hilarious. It highlighted the ridiculousness of the old Spider-Man cartoon. It was a great way to grab the reader’s attention. – Kathryn
Why: I can see this being the start of an AMAZING (pun intended) friendship between May and Gwen. May points out how crazy their lives have become and she is trying to wrap her mind around it. Then I love that line about Gwen being a rebel because she’s part of a band. – Kathryn
