At the beginning of this month, reports were coming out that Dope actress Kiersey Clemons was the front-runner for the role of ace reporter Iris West, one of the most iconic characters in The Flash mythology as she is the aunt of Wally West (Kid Flash, the third Flash later on), the grandmother of Bart Allen (Impulse, the fourth Flash later on) as well as the great love of Barry Allen/The Flash, who will be played by Ezra Miller in the upcoming film.
It’s now official: Clemons will be the Iris West of the DC Extended Universe as Variety revealed today that she will be starring in Rick Famuyiwa’s (who also directed Dope!) upcoming film about the fastest man alive. Not a lot of details were revealed, but it had been reported previously that Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton were also up for the role of Iris. Miller will be next seen in the upcoming Justice League film that is currently filming and being directed by Zack Snyder before he gets ready for his solo film that comes in 2018.
Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, is set to come out in theaters on March 16, 2018.
