  1. Sometimes you really need to read a solicitation. Robinson is pacing this in a cinematic style. This would be the intro that hooks you but unfortunately we dont have credits and a classic rock tune blasting to tell us. The villain and details will be revealed by issues 3-4. It is going to be a longer arcing tale that basically sets Cable apart amd hopefully develops the character by Deadpool 2. Given the popcorn brain nature of fans this will likely prove fatal. This “where’s the plot” unresearched scan review is typical and serves only to put another nail in a title’s coffin. I doubt Kat has any knowledge of Robinson’s previous Cable run or the Casey/Ladronn classic run just after Robinson. I question anyone who looks for much until issue 3-4 as it is obvious to all now a single issue of decades past is now 6. Writing for trade arcs is another nail in the coffin. This review was IMO lacking. Showing the reviewers lack of genuine interest and debilitating lack of knowledge of subject matter. My 5 year old niece could scan it and say “looks cool, not many words”.

    1. I read all the solicits every month, including Cable. But I shouldn’t have to read the solicits to understand the story – that should be in the issue itself. And my comment on lack of plot has nothing to do with a lack of words, you can have an amazing story through just visuals, but this issue just drops you in a middle of a story with no actual context of anything – so yeah there’s no plot. A first issue should hook a reader, make it worth our $3.99 or make it a graphic novel if that’s the style of story you want to tell.

  2. Yes it should. I agree with that. But if I held to that standard I would be stuck reading backissues. And honrstly , there was more build in this issue than indicated. Writing style changed, editors changed policy. The big 2 geared first arcs to hook. Great example, Johns New 52 Justice League vs. Robinson’s Earth 2. JL book told nothing sold thousands over Earth 2 that essentially set up a universe. I am not saying you are wrong wanting a great first issue, just setting everyone, especially yourself for disappointment. This issue was light on plot because it is geared as a mystery that will unfold. I still think your review was misleading, more like opinion over a breakdown of what was contained. No description of what is taking place, nothing. Just “pretty but no plot, doubt I will stick around but maybe?” Your review suffered the thing you faulted the book for. The settings? The characters and events? I know nothing more from your review. Thus it isn’t, you gave opinion. But that is typical. Seems everyone with an opinion and device is qualified these days.

    1. I get you not like my reviewing style, but your comment of, “Seems everyone with an opinion and device is qualified these days.” is rude. I have been reviewing comics for over 7 years so I know a thing or two about criticism, and I work for many sites writing comic book reviews.

      It’s cool that we don’t agree on the comic and we look for different things, but please let’s respect each other’s opinions. I personally felt there wasn’t much of a plot to talk about. The setting was the time travel aspect. We don’t know who these characters are so there wasn’t much to discuss on that front with what this issue provided.

  3. My comment was directed not just at this review but at almost 98% of what I have to sift through to get information. Your reviewing style to me seems typical. The amount of disssection seems to rely on personal interest. I myself think a degree of objectivity must be retained to “review”. We are from different eras. In the era of print this would be graded fail. But in 2017 I can give you credit, it was what one expects and most like. Nothing personal. I just hate that the efforts of artists rarely get to be finished because of the editors lack of spine and everything else that has led to Marel’s status quo and getting an issue #7 a huge hurdle.
