Get ready for some amazing girl power as Buzzfeed broke the news today that Marvel TV is developing an animated film titled Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors! The voice cast features a lot of familiar faces reprising their roles, including Agents of SHIELD’s Chloe Bennet as Quake, New Warriors’ Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl, and Kathreen Khavari as Ms. Marvel.
In addition to that, Agents of SHIELD’s Ming-Na Wen and Dove Cameron will voice the villainous Hala the Accuser and Ghost Spider aka Spider-Gwen respectively, with Cierra Ramirez as Miss America/America Chavez, Kim Raver as Captain Marvel, Dee Bradley Baker as Tippy Toe and Lockjaw, Booboo Stewart as Exile, Kamil McFadden as Patriot and Tyler Posey as Inferno.
Sana Amanat, Marvel’s director of content and character development, spoke to Buzzfeed about the exciting project
“This feature [film] is an evolution of all of the great characters that people have come to love. It came out of a desire to be able to tell stories about characters that we think are the next great heroes of the Marvel Universe. I think it’s incredibly important that we tell young women and young girls that they have this incredible power within themselves, and that they have heroes out there [who] … they can look up to, especially in these times.”
The animated film will come out sometime in 2018, with six, 4-minute digital shorts being released leading up to the premiere. While no synopsis was released, the film will tell the story of a new generation of diverse superheroes in the Marvel Universe.
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors is slated to come out in 2018.
