Rosarium Publishing Bill Campbell Interview

Rosarium Publishing’s Bill Campbell Talks ‘Lion Man’ and Plans Beyond

After I read and reviewed “The Adventures of Lion Man,” I got a chance to interview Bill Campbell, the owner and publisher of Rosarium Publishing, an undeniably fascinating conversation that’ll let you inside his head a bit.

We talked about Campbell’s many collaborators on the project, real-life events that inspired certain panels (where were you on January 6th?), as well as the importance of representation and the challenges he’s faced as a Black-owned publisher. He also teased the possibility of a Lion Man universe, which was the most exciting thing about the entire interview.

When I asked him about future plans to further dig into the public domains teased in the book, he actually made me chuckle calling all superheroes “crypto-fascists.” I pointed out the Superman symbol behind and he included Big Blue in that too. Obviously, Superman means a lot to me personally, but I can see where he’s coming from, especially as unenthused as he is by superheroes in general.

“They take the law in their own hands and preserve order,” Campbell said.
