The Future is Bright: Matthew Lillard Joins Man of Tomorrow!

The Man of Tomorrow cast continues to expand. It has been reported that Matthew Lillard will be joining the cast of the Superman sequel. Adria Arjona was announced to be joining the cast in April, and similar to Lillard, their roles are currently unknown.

More than a couple of considerably reliable outlets have stated that Arjona will be playing Maxima. A character that was confirmed to be included in the film. However, Jame Gunn, the film’s writer and director, has not, at the time of writing, confirmed this rumour.

Lillard’s role could be anything. The only hint of what it might be came from Gunn himself. Gunn shared a photo of Lillard and himself from the set of Man of Tomorrow. Lillard is wearing a button-up shirt, a tie, and glasses. The set does appear to be in ARGUS or the State Department. Both DC locations have been featured significantly in the early days of the DCU.

The most interesting aspect of the most recent casting for the film is that they are being kept secret. Multiple potential Justice League members have been confirmed to be in the Superman sequel, but Arjona and Lillard’s being kept under wraps does imply that the story may be more surprising than initially suspected.

If Lillard is not working for either of those government organizations, it could also be possible that he is working for Superman’s unlikely ally in the film, Lex Luthor. Lillard, as an actor, has been known to work well as a key supporting character. This was demonstrated with his work as Mr. Charles in the most recent season of Daredevil: Born Again.

What do you think of Lillard’s casting in Man of Tomorrow?
