RETURN OF WOLVERINE #1 (of 5)
Jay: Was he ever gone? Wolverine was the most used “Dead” character ever in comics. I mean Death isn’t used as much in her own comic as much as Wolverine was after he “died”. But I am glad he is back, just what to do with all the other “Wolverines”?
Josh: I have been reading the Hunt for Wolverine series and have very much enjoyed what they’re doing. I also read the Death of Wolverine, so I figure it’s only natural to keep on keepin’ on with this series.
Louis: I enjoyed Charles Soule’s Death of Wolverine arc so I guess I’ll give his return a try.
Tatiana: I’ll admit I am not moved by yet another return, and the hunt for him did not hold my interest. But I do think Soule is a good writer and I always try to give reboots a few issues to keep me around, so I will be checking this one out.
FANTASTIC FOUR #2
Jay: I am SOOO EXCITED for this book! I love that we are getting codenames for the kids, and that we will know what they have been doing since we last saw them.
Kat: I can’t wait for this comic, and glad Dan Slott will be filling in the blanks while the team was off earth.
Louis: I’m not a fan of filler issues. However it looks like the Richards family missing time won’t be answered in Marvel Two-In-One. Besides I trust Dan Slott can make it entertaining.
Tatiana: “What have Reed, Sue and the kids been up to all this time” is exactly the question I need answered, especially when it comes to Sue. She gets the short end of the stick in every Fantastic Four story I’ve read, so I hope to see Slott flesh her out further and give her an arc of her own.
MARVEL 2-IN-ONE #10
Jay: Well they kind of have to right? I mean the Fantastic FOur are back baby!
Louis: I guess if this is gonna continue as a Johnny and Ben team-up series it’s be cool.
Tatiana: Lowkey sounds like the series should end here, doesn’t it? Why have 2-in-1 when our 4-in-1 is back?
FRANKLIN RICHARDS: A FANTASTIC YEAR #1
Jay: I’m in! I love Franklin Richards, one of my favorite kids in comics, so will be getting this for sure!
Kat: KATIE POWER – sign me up!
THANOS LEGACY #1
Jay: One thing is for sure, Marvel knows how to milk a cash cow!
Josh: It doesn’t take much to get me involved in any Thanos storyline. In addition to being an avid reader of the now defunct Thanos series, I have been reading everything related to the Infinity Wars storyline. More Thanos all the time.
ASGARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1
Jay: This is a stand in for Guardians, literally. Just look at the line ups ok? Angela = Gamora, Valkyrie = Star-Lord, Skurge The Executioner = Drax The Destroyer, Throg = Rocket, and The Destroyer = Groot. This leaves Kevin Masterson as Thunderstrike (who looks a little bit too old) as us the reader, the outsider on this adventure. I know what they are doing but I am all in, I love some Thunderstrike love!
Josh: Okay, color me intrigued. I suspect this will be similar to Iron Hammer, Weapon Hex, Aracknight and Soldier Supreme.
ICEMAN #1
Jay: Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, so I will see Iceman on the cancelation block again. I’m a fan of Iceman but Marvel has ruined him for me.
Tatiana: I really liked Sina Grace’s last Iceman series, though I’m not sure why they ended it just to start it back up with the same writer. Looking forward to Bobby Drake’s next adventure, though!
EDGE OF SPIDERGEDDON #3 & #4 (of 4)
Jay: Both of these issues sound really cool! I love the twists that these books allow.
Louis: Normally I don’t get big event tie-ins but a universe where Peter and Ben Parker both have spider powers and another where the spider bit Norman Osborn are two ideas too good to pass up.
Tatiana: Uncle Ben actually lives?! That’s one I haven’t heard before. Norman as a Spider-Man? Color me intrigued. It’s strange when every Spider-Man AU compels me more than the Prime Universe Peter Parker does.
SPIDERGEDDON #0
Jay: Not a gamer, but I do want to see how the video game Spider-Man fits into all of this.
Louis: Looks like I have another reason to buy the upcoming PS4 Spider-Man game.
INFINITY WARS #3 (of 6)
Jay: The “Warped” characters look cool but it seems like a gimmick and not story. I am already tired of this event to be honest.
Josh: I read anything involving Infinity. I have since the inception, I will to my death. I really hope this series delivers like the other Infinity storylines have. The lead up has been great.
AVENGERS #7
Jay: My least favorite team of Avengers, the One Million BC team, just give me the main team!
AVENGERS #8
Jay: Ask and I shall recieve! But now I just want the return of Avengers Mansion! Why does Marvel have to keep reinventing the Avengers Headquaters? We don’t need Avengers Tower or Avengers Mountain, give me the Avengers Mansion back!
Josh:
Kat:
Louis: Avengers Mountains sounds like an awesome base. Can’t wait for the tour in this issue.
WEST COAST AVENGERS #2
Jay: Really? Sorry I deserve and demand a better team!
Kat: I’m glad that we are getting some old members on the team.
Tatiana: I’m still not sure how this is gonna go, but I know I’m ready to follow wherever Kate and America take take me. And the fact that Gwenpool’s onboard just sweetens the deal.
CAPTAIN AMERICA ANNUAL #1
Jay: This story sounds really cool, but seriously Marvel two issues in and we get an annual? Remember when annuals were earned? You know like having twelve or almost twelve issues before you get an annual. Why not just start the series with an annual before your first issue?
CAPTAIN AMERICA #3
Jay: I am still apprehensive about Coates on this book.
IMMORTAL HULK #5 & IMMORTAL HULK #6
Jay: I LOVED the first issue of this title! Finally we have the “Man or Monster” and the being hunted aspects back to this book. I am highly anticipating each issue of this series!
CHAMPIONS #24
Jay: Wait! The Champions are being heroes?! YES! I AM IN!
QUICKSILVER: NO SURRENDER #5 (of 5)
Tatiana: This story has been nothing short of weird so far, although it’s beautifully drawn. I would have tapped out by now, but since it’s only 5 issues total, I want to see what payoff Ahmed has in store. He’s never let me down before, so I don’t expect him to start now.
TONY STARK: IRON MAN #4
Jay: I enjoyed the first issue, but no, not Jan. Keep Jan a Hank love interest. What is it with Slott and mixing up couples? If Jan gets a new man, make it someone without “issues”.
Kat: I’m interested to see where this relationship goes. Glad to see Dan Slott is already doing something different with this title. Gorgeous cover! #TheWasp
Louis: I hope Slott can give us a better story for Tony and Janet’s relationship than the one for Spider-Man and Mockingbird.
Tatiana: Tony’s hooking up with… Janet? No, I didn’t ask for this. I’d much rather see the man be single and acclimate to a new lease on life – and a new family to boot.
THOR #5
Jay: I loved Aaron’s Jane Foster Thor, but I am not a fan of his Future “All-Father Thor” stuff, not before Jane and not now.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1
Jay: See the Captain America Annual for my thoughts on Annuals at Marvel right now. But unlike Captain America’s annual, this one doesn’t have me interested really.
Louis: Untold tales from the black costume era, sounds like fun.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #5 & #6
Jay: I am looking forward to Spencer’s Spider-Man, but I am not giving my hope up until I read a few issues.
Louis: So Nick Spencer’s first story arc is going to conclude faster since Spider-Man is bimonthly again, not that I’m complaining. Can’t wait to read what Spencer has in store for Peter now that his new roommate’s a super villain.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #23
Jay: This sounds a lot like the plot for the Secret Wars Mini-Series. But I am enjoying this title, so I think they will give us that twist here.
VENOM #6
Jay: Maybe I am still stuck in the anger phase of grieving for Flash, but Grendel? Seriously? OK I am not a fan of this incarnation of Venom, leave the symbiote lore alone STOP trying to add to it, it is becoming too convoluted now. Plus leave epic stories and poems of literature alone as well.
VENOM: FIRST HOST #2 -#5 (of 5)
Jay: See above.
Josh: I generally like Venom and have been reading the new Donny Cates series, so I will dive into this as it is related to those stories.
BEN REILLY: SCARLET SPIDER #23 & #24
Jay: I have a feeling the benafactor if Miles Warren!
PETER PARKER: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #309 & #310
Jay: This title started so strong in the FCBD preview, and now it is my least favorite Spider-Book, ok maybe I like the new Veom less, but that depends on how you count that book.
Louis: Now that the Teresea Parker/time travel arc is finished, this is probably a good jumping on point. A documentary following Spider-Man around NYC, what could possibly go wrong?
OLD MAN HAWKEYE #9 (of 12)
Jay: I have been enoying this max-series. I love that Hawkeye is more serious here, and isn’t treated like a joke “cough-WestCoastAvengers-cough”.
DOCTOR STRANGE #5
Jay: I thought the first issue was interesting, and this issue has me curious as well.
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY: THE BIRTH OF KRAKOA #1
Jay: I am down for this! But I have to ask, what didn’t Fury have his hands in?
Tatiana: The Howling Commandos are a group I’d love to learn more about, so this seems like the perfect story for me to check out.
DAREDEVIL #608
Jay: This sounds like a blast! I love a good mystery so bring this on!
MOON KNIGHT #199
Jay: Sounds Interesting, but I still haven’t found a recent Moon Knight series to really pull me in.
SENTRY #4
Jay: I am looking forward to this book to be honest, I always liked the premise of Sentry.
BLACK PANTHER #4
Tatiana: The first issue was really interesting and left me with quite a few burning questions, so I’m eager to read more. Plus, I have a mighty thirst for more M’Baku in whatever form I can get him.
ANT-MAN & THE WASP #5 (of 5)
Jay: I liked the first issue, but not sure how I feel about the pairing they seem to be trying to make them into a romance.
RUNAWAYS #13
Jay: I am LOVING Runaways right now! This may be Marvel’s most consistant quality book! Every month I love what I read and this one sounds like I may as well, plus I love the cross promotion here!
Kat: What a beautiful cover with my girl Karolina. Thank you @kristaferanka!! I like that it looks like @rainbowrowell will be digging into the Dean family’s celebrity status.
MARVEL RISING: OMEGA #1
Jay: The first issue (Alpha) was ok, but I am hoping they make it more for everyone and not such a mellenial book.
THE LIFE OF CAPTAIN MARVEL #3 (OF 5)
Jay: I must know the secret!
Kat: I’ve been so excited for this mini. It looks like @mstohl will be taking a deep dive into Carol’s past as she has to tackle it head on in the present.
MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR #35
Jay: What is it with this title taking on social topics?
MS. MARVEL #34
Jay: I love that Bruno has returned, the book isn’t complete with out Kamala being complete and that means having her best friend by her side.
Kat: This feels like classic Ms. Marvel, and I love it. So glad to see Bruno in this book again.
SILVER SURFER ANNUAL #1
Jay: Why not have an annual for a book that isn’t even out?
DEATH OF INHUMANS #3 (of 5)
Jay: I am not sure what to think here, so I will see how it plays out/
COSMIC GHOST RIDER #3 (of 5)
Jay: I hate the overuse of the phrase “nuff said”, no it is not! Tell me why I should invest in this charcater that was just another gimmick whose first appearance was hocked on E-Bay for an insane amount so Marvel capitalized on it.
X-MEN GOLD #35 & X-MEN GOLD #36
Jay: A goodbye to Kitty’s team, but I am hoping this becomes either X-Men or Uncanny X-Men.
Kat: FINAL ISSUE VARIANT COVER BY WHILCE PORTACIO??? Are they ending the series? I’m excited to see a spotlight issue for Kitty. I never can get enough of her character.
DOMINO ANNUAL #1
Jay: Annuals should… See previous annuals. But no I do not want Colossus to make a bad decission and go back to Domino, not even a little.
Tatiana: It feels like Domino just began, and she’s already got an annual? Regardless, I’ve really enjoyed her arc thus far so I am not opposed to seeing what one-offs Gail Simone has in store for her.
DOMINO #6
Jay: I like this series, but not one that I highly anticipated, I want more than a Birds of Prey style to it.
X-MEN BLUE #35 & X-MEN BLUE #36
Jay: Didn’t they do this in the very first story they appeared in WAY back in All-New X-Men? Yes they did. But I wonder, how will young Cyclops speak to older Cyclops, he’s dead. Or is he? Yeah he is dead. I can see this being the other book out of a revamped X-Men or Uncanny X-Men books.
ASTONISHING X-MEN #15
Jay: I am so glad that Havok is back and is no longer the Mutant of the Opera.
EXTERMINATION #3 (OF 5)
Jay: This event seems like it is overdo? Like it should have happened a while ago.
X-CLASSIFIED #3
Jay: The classification is over (SPOILERS) The series is Mr. And Mrs. X starring the newly married Rogue & Gambit.
X-MEN RED #8
Jay: I love Tom Taylor’s writing, I love Jean Grey, I love Gabby, yeah I love X-Men Red!
OLD MAN LOGAN ANNUAL #1
Jay: WAIT 46 issues before an annual? Did we cross universes? Jokes aside I am looking forward to reading this annual.
X-23 #4
Jay: OOOOOOO YES! I love the sound of this issue! If it wasn’t for the fact that I’d have to skip summer to get this I would ask for September to come now.
Kat: Gabby Vs. Laura? Damn, things are getting heavy.
DARTH VADER #21
Jay: The place of his birth, hmmmm prequels material being used?
