Warner Bros. âThe Big Pictureâ Presentation featured guests George Miller, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Peter Safran, Kevin Costner, Bong Joon-ho, Robert Pattinson, the Night Shyamalan family, and the Beetlejuice cast.
The atmosphere at CinemaCon 2024 was exciting, April 9, as Warner Bros. presented previews of its upcoming 2024 slate including Joker: Folie Ă Deux, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Watchers, Mickey 17, Horizon: An American Saga, and Trap from M. Night Shyamalan.
The stage in The Colosseum Theater was beautifully set up to give us a nice taste of finished, almost finished, and still in progress projects.
Everything looked enticing, but Mickey 17 had the audience in complete awe, especially when Pattinson himself showed up. He talked about the different characters he plays and the subtle nuances he has to make to differentiate between Mickey 17 and 18. Director Bong said Pattinsonâs âcrazy eyesâ are what make the movie special.
The most anticipated trailer since we heard the words âitâs a musical,â was Joker. Todd Phillips stepped out to thank the audience for their support for his first Joker film. According to Phillips, the idea of the musical came from Arthur Fleckâs own natural movements and musicality in the first film.
The dancing, the singing, the chaos is amplified in the new Joker trailer. Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn (doesnât appear to be Dr. Harleen Quinzel) is striking and Joaquin Phoenix is still as unsettling as ever as Fleck. Except now he thinks heâs in love.Â
In other DC news, James Gunn had a brief message for the audience from Atlanta. Heâs hopeful that he and the rest of the Superman (2025) cast will be at CinemaCon 2025 for the âsummer of Superman.â
The anticipation is high for Warner Bros. after a successful Barbie-fied 2023. We also got a sneak peek at 2025 projects featuring videos from Jack Black, Maggie Gyllenhaal from her set on The Bride, with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan (and supporting puppy, Ira!) on the set of Superman (2025).
The sneak peeks continue this week with presentations from Lionsgate, Universal, Paramount, Disney and more. Follow our Twitter for live coverage.
